Sister Cam, who is of Chinese decent, was born and grew up in South Vietnam. She immigrated to the United States (Pennsylvania in 1982, and in 1989 entered the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the USA Province. After finishing her religious formation, she studied and completed her Bachelor’s degree in Theology and her Master’s degree in Community Counseling, both from Villanova University. Sister Cam also completed two years training in Spiritual Direction at the Jesuit Center in Wernersville, PA. She worked for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for 14 years as a social worker and case manager, counseling people in need. She ministered in Xavier House (Hong Kong) as a Spiritual Director for two years (2015-2017) before returning to Philadelphia. This past summer, Sr. Cam attended a six week Ignatian Spirituality immersion course in the primary “founding place” of Ignatian Spirituality: Manresa, Spain. We are happy to widen our outreach at St. Raphaela Center with Sister Cam’s experience and formation.
