In today’s Gospel, John the Baptist sends a powerful message. We are told to prepare for the birth of our Savior by repenting for our sins. This is a message that I take to heart. In addition to seeking the sacrament of reconciliation during the season of Advent, I spend time praying on the Psalms. I have spent quite a bit of time this week praying on today’s Psalm. Psalm 85:8, “Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.” I chose the image of the crucifix because it reminds me of Jesus’ love, mercy and kindness. It helps me to open up, recognize my sins and ask for forgiveness.
