As we stand at the beginning of this Advent season , the words of John’s gospel ring out: “The light shines on in darkness, a darkness that did not overcome it.” (Jn.1: 5) In the midst of all the darknesses of our lives these days, the strength, clarity and beauty of the Sirius star reminds us that light shines most brilliantly in darkness. Thus enabled, along with St. Andrew, whose feast we celebrate this day, we go forth remembering, “How beautiful are those whose feet bring the good news.” (Romans 10:15) – the good news of freedom, of courage, of hope.
Megan is a member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas and feels passionately about their charism and mission. Megan’s current ministry is accompanying women who are learning to be Sisters of Mercy. Megan has facilitated several retreats and workshops at St. Raphaela Center and will be offering an Advent Evening of Reflection: A Light Shines in the Darkness on Tuesday, December 15th, 7:00-8:30pm.
