I first encountered this beautiful painting by Morgan Weistling at St. Raphaela Center during a silent retreat. I had never seen an image of Madonna and Child that was so relatable, so gentle, so intimate. It stuck with me long after my days in those halls ended and so I acquired a print for my own daughter’s nursery. As I rock my baby in my arms each day, I speak to Mary of our shared understanding of joyful anticipation. I ask her to continue to guide me on my own journey of motherhood and I relish in the newfound hope and outpouring of love this Advent season has for me knowing that every life is a gift, but none more so than the son of God for all the world to know and love. 

Lindsey Ranstrom is co-founder of Joyful Mouvement where her husband Erik and she offer spiritual direction, vocation coaching, and spiritual programming and retreats. Lindsey is a national board certified health and wellness coach, resume writer, and global career development facilitator which inform her holistic approach to serving others. She is also the director of parish services at Saint Elizabeth Parish in Chester Springs, PA, but is most proud of her new vocation as mother to her daughter Sabrina.
