Heather Makowicz, M.S.W.
Heather Makowicz has been serving as a Certified Spiritual Director as well as a retreat Leader through the Daylesford Abbey as well as Malvern Retreat House for over five years. In 2017, she founded Peak Encounter Ministries, to create a space for people to encounter God in nature through outdoor experiential retreats integrating scripture, prayer, and fellowship.
Heather holds a Masters Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Neumann University, a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Norfolk State University, a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology, and completed a summer residency in leading individuals through the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola through The Lanteri Center in Denver, Colorado.
As the mother of a son with multiple special needs and someone who has experienced deep healing in her own life through the Catholic Church and ecumenical communities, Heather has a deep desire to offer that same sacred space for God to encounter others as well.
Both from the formation as a clinical social worker and a Christian Spiritual Director, Heather brings a strong background integrating both the spiritual and psycho-social lenses, attentively listening and inviting individuals she directs to consider the guidance of God’s subtle movements in their daily lives.
She considers it a privilege and a joy to accompany young adults, women, priests, and religious, most particularly, surrounding prayer, healing, and discernment.
