Image Title: The Voice in the Wilderness
The global pandemic has interrupted our practice in this Advent season and changed our human behaviors to unprecedented situation that we have never experienced before. Social distancing, no masks no services/Mass, staying at home, and robust hand hygiene become common warnings during these days with the surging rise of COVID-19 cases in the world. We have been socially paralyzed by danger of the invisible virus. We need to enter wilderness, the bottom of our heart to listen to the voice of God who can comfort us in the chaos, console us in huge loss, and provide us the meaning of our existential present.

Bao Nguyen, a Jesuit priest, is working at Loyola University Maryland as an Assistant Director of Jesuit Global Collaborations and professor of education and theology. He is passionate in Catholic higher education as human rights for the marginalized and international people. Experienced Vietnam war, communist oppression, and material poverty, he has a desire to become a bridge over any gap of injustice, discrimination, and literacy in the world.
