Day 20: December 18
Reflector: Claire G.
Image Title: Movement
The gospel today ( MT 1:18-25) speaks of a dramatic shift in perspective from shame to joy. As we close this third week of advent in 2020, what are the invitations in our lives to shift our beliefs? God, make known to us the ways we can move closer to joy and farther from shame for ourselves and those around us. May we be ready to risk our ideas of “rightness” for the sake of growing in love. As we approach the shortest day, may we turn inward for a softness or warmth knowing that the smallest of intentions can hold holiness.
Claire (they/them) is a bilingual social worker, spouse, activist, and teacher in Boston, MA. Claire is passionate about noticing the presence of divinity in places that have been previously overlooked, especially at institutional levels. Come find me for good milkshakes, queer theology, a camping trip, acoustic music, bike rides, or an Italian meal. Our door is always open. Claire has been in the hands of the ACJ’s since Stepping Stones at Ancillae. Claire’s theology and praxis are deeply informed by the spirt of the Fiat and the idea of being united like the fingers of a hand: living with love and for love.
