Day 6: December 4
Reflector: Fr. Adam Rosinski, SJ
Image Title: Adoration of the Shepherds by Matthias Stom
“The Incarnation doesn’t give us a ladder to climb out of our human condition. The Incarnation gives us a drill that lets us burrow into the heart of everything that is and, there, find it shimmering with divinity.” – Avery Cardinal Dulles, SJ
As we await the Christmas light that pierces the darkness, we can sometimes be tempted to look up and away, as if for some great heavenly spotlight to shine on us from a distance. However, the great message of Christmas, of the Incarnation, is that God lights up our humanity from within; that the Christ-light already lives within us, in the very marrow of our humanity. So, this year, let us be Christmas lights for one another, and allow the divinity within us to shimmer for all to see.
