We desire wholeness and healing. Lent is not only a time when we strive to purify our hearts through penance, prayer and alms-giving. But it also a season to grow in our awareness of God’s desire to unite himself to us in the perfect love of His Son, who gives himself to us as a great work of mercy and compassion. In our day of reflection and prayer, we open ourselves to the mystery of God who is Love so that we might be transformed into the image of that Love. We prepare ourselves to receive the great gift of New Life as we contemplate our call to live mercy.
